[The List #1] The TBR Pile of Indecision
I am terrible at sticking to a TBR. I keep changing my mind about what I want to read next, and I have a bad habit of picking up books from the library on a whim. This isn't a bad thing necessarily, except that my TBR pile keeps growing. This is despite the fact that I'm reading more than I have in the last two years!
So, I'm going to start this monthly post where I hold myself accountable for my TBR. We'll check in next month to see if I've stuck to the list! The following are books that I intend to read in no particular order.
Why I Want to Read It: I'm in need of a happy, light book. I've read Alexandra Potter's Who's That Girl? and enjoyed it, so I'm hopeful this will be good too!
Calling Romeo by Alexandra Potter
The Story: Juliet is an attractive, successful woman in a comfortable long-term relationship with Will, but she can't help feeling that they've become more like friends who have sex than lovers. Temptation calls, but will she risk losing Will? (Goodreads)
Why I Want to Read It: I'm in need of a happy, light book. I've read Alexandra Potter's Who's That Girl? and enjoyed it, so I'm hopeful this will be good too!
A Madness So Discreet by Mindy McGinnis
The Story: When her voice returns in a burst of violence, Grace is banished to the dark cellars of Boston insane asylum, where her mind is discovered by a visiting doctor who dabbles in the new study of criminal psychology. With her keen eyes and sharp memory, Grace will make the perfect assistant at crime scenes. Escaping from Boston to the safety of an ethical Ohio asylum, Grace finds friendship and hope, hints of a life she should have had. But gruesome nights bring Grace and the doctor into the circle of a killer who stalks young women. Grace, continuing to operate under the cloak of madness, must hunt a murderer while she confronts the demons in her own past. (Goodreads)
Why I Want to Read It: I spoke about my enthusiasm for this book wayy back in November. I finally got a copy from the library, and I'm so keen to read it!
Rebel Angels by Libba Bray
The Story: Ah, Christmas! Gemma Doyle is looking forward to a holiday from Spence Academy, spending time with her friends in the city, attending ritzy balls, and on a somber note, tending to her ailing father. As she prepares to ring in the New Year, 1896, a handsome young man, Lord Denby, has set his sights on Gemma, or so it seems. Yet amidst the distractions of London, Gemma’s visions intensify–visions of three girls dressed in white, to whom something horrific has happened, something only the realms can explain... (Goodreads)
Why I Want to Read It: It's the second book in the Gemma Doyle Trilogy. I've read the first book, and I've had this one sitting on my shelf since Borders shut down. So, it's really about time I get around to it!
Nevernight by Jay Kristoff
The Story: Destined to destroy empires Mia Covere is only ten years old when she is given her first lesson in death. Six years later, the child raised in the shadows takes her first steps towards keeping the promise she made on the day that she lost everything. But the chance to strike against such powerful enemies will be fleeting, so if she is to have her revenge, Mia must become a weapon without equal. (Goodreads)
Why I Want to Read It: I keep telling Reg that I will read it next, but I'm still avoiding it. It sounds a little too intense to dig into for my mood in the last few weeks, but hopefully I'll feel like it soon!
What about your TBR?
What books do you want to read next?
A Madness So Discreet is one of my favorites - I hope you like it! I've barely had any time for reading lately, but I want to get to As I Descended by Robin Talley.
ReplyDeleteThat's great to hear! :D Ooh I haven't heard of that, but I hope you'll enjoy it when you have the time for it!
DeleteI have to say that I love the title of this post :P
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about not sticking to your "plan". I'm a mood reader and sometimes I just have to squeeze whatever book I'm craving in between my carefully planned reading list.
I hope this works for you!
Haha, thanks! Yesss, I do that too, and then books I meant to read don't get read for years. xD
