[Rewind] September 2016

14:46 Cilla 4 Comments

We're officially in the final quarter of the year! I'm mostly excited about this because it means summer break is approaching. September wasn't bad though.

I posted two discussion posts, which isn't that many for most people but so out of the ordinary for me.

Something else that was good about last month: I went to see Matilda, the Musical last weekend, and it was brilliant. Tim Minchin's songs are so smart - for example, the lyrics in this song below. I loved it, and the day was even better because my friends and I went out for a dimsum buffet beforehand. I'd been craving dimsum for a while, so it was very satisfying.

Now, onto books!

New to My Shelves

I really wanted something warm and fuzzy, hence the romantic contemporary in Calling Romeo. Unfortunately, I got three chapters in before I decided to DNF. There was more exposition than I would like, and I would've hung on if it wasn't for the other exciting books on my list. Funnily enough, I'm finding The Mysterious Affair at Styles more relaxing than Calling Romeo. Not sure what this says about me...

In Store for Next Month

I realised that I've read three books about World War II pretty much back to back and haven't written any review on them! So that's coming up next month. I also have a couple of ideas for discussion posts, so they will hopefully happen too!

Let's talk!
How was your September?
Tell me one good/fun/lovely thing that happened to you or you did last month!

    1. A Madness So Discreet turns out to be really intense and dark, but really worth the read!

  2. I read Phantom Limbs last month and loved it. The characters came to life on the page and felt like real friends.
