[Match Made in the Pages] Neville Takes Prim On A Date
Hey there! I hope you're all having a good start to your week, and welcome back to Match Made in the Pages. This feature is the collaborative effort of Team Periwinkle as part of #BBCP2016. In Part 1, I asked Neville Longbottom some questions in an effort to set up his online dating profile and left it up to you guys to pick his date!
The suggestions were really fantastic, and one in particular sparked my imagination. So, what would it be like if Neville Longbottom and Primrose Everdeen went on a date? I think it would go something like this:
'Prim turned slowly, craning her neck as far as it could to catch every angle of her reflection. Neville had asked her to dress for warm weather, which was bizarre considering the cold snap that the country was shivering under. Her soft blue dress should fit the criteria, though she couldn't yet shake the doubts dancing around her mind. (Perhaps the green one would be better) At the same time, she had to marvel at the fact that she was able to worry about something as simple as which dress.
The ring of her doorbell gave her a start, and she looked quickly to the clock. Right on time. She snatched up her bag and hastened to the door. She swung it open and, despite the rush of cold wind, smiled. She'd caught the man behind the door mid-pace, one hand on the back of his neck. He spun to face her, startled despite the fact that he had been the one to ring the bell. He smiled back, sheepish, hand dropping to his side. "Hi Prim."
"Neville," she replied, extending a hand to shake his. "It's nice to meet you." She realised belatedly that it might be too formal a way to kick off a date, but he didn't hesitate in taking it and returning the sentiment. He was only dressed in plaid cotton shirt and jeans, yet his hand was warm. Magic, she realised.
"Ready?" he asked after she had locked her door.
"Yes," she replied with a smile, crossing her arms as a shiver passed down her spine. "Where are we -- uh, what's that?"
He was holding what looked like a used tin. The sheepish smile returned. "This is a portkey. I spent some time thinking about where we could go, and there's this garden that I think you would love. Only it's... halfway around the world. This will help get us there. I promise it's safe, and I'm not kidnapping you or anything." He pursed his lips together, cheeks pink. "It's kind of a crazy idea, I know. We can forget about it and go to dinner and..."
There was a pause as Prim considered the tin. "A trip abroad is more of a third date material, isn't it?"
A grin cracked across Neville's face. "Well, just in case there isn't a third date."
She laughed, as startled as she was delighted. Setting her gaze on his tin again, she inhaled. In the past, she had been thrust into adventure. It was time she chose one for herself. (It helped that she really didn't think he was a serial killer, not the man who was considered a hero.) She took his wrist gently and stepped closer, lifting her gaze to meet his. "Let's go."
There was wonder in his expression as they looked at each other. "Hold on tight," he murmured. Prim felt a tug behind her navel and her feet leave the ground. She didn't scream, and while her eyes were wider than usual, she kept them open. Neville was the only constant in the currently blurry world, so she trained her eyes on him until the spinning stopped.
When her feet found solid ground again, she first registered the humidity and the purple-black sky. She stepped away from him, and before she could ask the predictable question, he nodded to the scene behind her. "Look."
She did.'

There you have it! I imagine the man who can nurture Venomous Tentaculas as much as Honking Daffodils and the woman named after a flower who enjoys gardening would love being at one of the prettiest gardens in the world. What do you think though?
