[Match Made in the Pages] Set Neville Longbottom Up on A Blind Date!

18:01 Cilla 6 Comments

Welcome to the first installment to BBCP Team Periwinkle's project: Match Made in the Pages! Over the next two weeks, we want to send some of our favourite characters on a blind date. It's a blind date for two reasons: we'd like you to set them up, with a character from a universe other than theirs! Have a read of their dating profiles, leave a comment with your thought on who they should go on a date with, then come back next week to see how we imagine that date would go!

Let's kick things off with the boy who saved Hogwarts - Neville Longbottom. Here is how I think he'd go if he had to answer questions for a brief online dating profile as an 18 year old (let's pretend he has access the internet somehow):

NEVILLE LONGBOTTOM

Other than appearance, what is the first thing that people notice about you?

My approachability. A few years ago, I'd have said people would notice my clumsiness first, but I've grown past that (I hope). Anyway, I'm a friendly person and I like to think that's obvious.

What are your three BEST life skills?

Perseverance, ability to remain true to my principles, and survival skills in times of extreme pressure.

What’s the most important thing you’re looking for in another person?

I'm looking for someone who can see light in the darkness, who believes in people's potential instead of focusing on their flaws.

What are you most passionate about?

My immediate thought to this question is Herbology, but when after giving it some more thought, I realised that I'm passionate about education. Not just the academia, but also the part of education where teachers actually guide their students to overcome their weaknesses and care about how they are actually progressing.

How do you typically spend your leisure time?

There's not much leisure time these days, but typically you can find me kneeling in the dirt in a greenhouse, looking after one of my plants. If I'm not there, I'm usually in a pub with my friends, sharing a meal and drinks.

With that profile in mind, who would you set Neville up with?
Leave a comment with your character of choice!
Come back next week to see who he's going with, and for the date itself!

For this week, keep your eyes peeled for other dating profiles from Team Periwinkle:

  1. OMG THIS IS AMAZING, I LOVE IT. For some reason I think Neville would go really great with Annabel from Sarah Dessen's Just Listen, but I'm not sure if you've read that book yet - I feel like his friendliness will help her calm and she'll be a great listener to him? I imagine she'll enjoy looking after his plants for him. :P

(Also yaaay for Vicious! Can't wait to see what you think of it.)

    1. I haven't read Sarah Dessen's books unfortunately! I've been meaning to, but I haven't gotten around to it. I shall keep an eye out for Just Listen though!

  2. I LOVE your answers!! Maybe he would go good with Prim from The Hunger Games (I'm sure she can relate to being more of a background player like Neville) or Isla from Isla and the Happily Ever After or Anna from Twenty Boy Summer or Julia from Meant to Be ....gah Neville is HARD to set up!!

    1. This reply is so late, but thank you for your suggestions, Michelle! The Hunger Games is the one I'm most familiar with, so that's the one I went with. :D Neville IS hard to set up, though I'm still not sure exactly why that is...

  3. This is so so cute! I love this Cilla, thanks for doing this! Reading Neville's profile makes him such an interesting character :) And I totally forgot that he was into Herbology; it brings so much memories to me now about Harry Potter. Haha. Anyway, it's kind of hard to match him with someone, but maybe he could do well with Adelina (The Young Elites by Marie Lu). I know it's totally off, but she was one person that came into my head. Haha. Lovely post and I enjoyed it!

    1. I think Neville is so interesting! He has all the same tragic history as Harry and possibly a worse upbringing what with being bullied at school, and still emerged the other hand a hero. <3 I haven't read The Young Elites, which is my only reason for not picking Adelina for him. If she's the opposite of Neville, they might still have worked though! Thank you for stopping by, Jillian! :D
