[Rewind] December 2016

Hey there! Hope you guys had a lovely holiday season! It feels a little strange to write a monthly rewind after I've written a couple of yearly ones, but why not, hey? December has been a... nice month both in terms of blogging and life. Fairly quiet, but after ten months of going full-speed ahead, quiet is a good thing. Let's check out the highlights, shall we?

Life

I officially finished the first placement of my Master degree! 🙌That placement was the first time I worked with clients as a psychologists, so I was so anxious for weeks about it. It wasn't just 'can I do this placement?', it was 'can I do this job for the rest of my life? Have I chosen the right career path for me, or am I going to feel like Mike Wazowski after his Scarer course?' So, to not only survive, but also receive good feedback by the end of it is an enormous validation for me.

↠ On the whole, my Christmas was a quiet one. I didn't go home, but I got to have great meals with friends and family members, but I spent most of it writing and watching Netflix. A lot of people's first instinct seems to be to feel sad for me when I tell them this. I would've been sad too had I been utterly alone for the period, but I wasn't. I missed my family, but I also wasn't obliged to spend time with other people I'd rather avoid. All in all, my Christmas could've been better, but it wasn't bad.

New to My Shelves

I received Code Name Verity from my Secret Santa. It's one of those books that has been on my wishlist for a long time, so I'm excited to read it! The Luminaries is borrowed from my friend. It's much thicker than I imagined, but I'm hearing some good things about it from bookstagram. The Star-Touched Queen is from the library. I read the first chapter and love the writing already!

  3. Congratulations Cilla, that's such wonderful news! Placements can be incredibly daunting can't they and absolutely thrilled it was such a success! I wish my Christmas was more like yours. I would have loved to have cancelled all visitors and laid on the couch instead. Being sick and the heat were a terrible combination.

Next year I'll cancel Christmas altogether:D

    1. Thanks so much, Kelly! <3 They really can be! I'm trying to not focus on my next one at the moment haha. I'm sorry to hear you were sick during Christmas! I hope you get to relax a lot more for the rest of the holiday season, and that you're feeling much better! Cancelling Christmas next year sounds like a good plan, haha. :D

  4. I'm so glad that your placement went well and that you got good feedback! And I'm glad that you got to relax over Christmas---I agree that sometimes a little time alone can actually be a relief!

  5. I've read great reviews about the writing of The Star Touched Queen, but haven't read it for myself yet. December for me was a bit slow on the reading as we had some health issues here to deal with as well as family stuff. I've taken my first Goodreads challenge in 2017.
